public safetyKEEPING THE CITY SAFEConcerns about going downtown are negatively impacting our downtown businesses. Everyone deserves to feel safe. The business community, police, and private citizens must all work together to improve the perceived and real public safety of community members as well as visitors who bring money into the local economy.
I believe that we need to support the efforts of the police to recruit, fully staff, and retain officers. In addition, by utilizing citizens who have life experience with drug addiction, we could develop innovative, community-based solutions for overdose responses, allowing officers to return to other duties. |

The Hagerstown economy has recently been experiencing amazing growth. Due to the lower cost of real estate and its proximity to Interstates 81 and 70, the Hagerstown area has become a desirable location for distribution centers and other industries. Apartment developers are vying for space, with multiple new residential projects planned. While this is good news, we must work together to ensure that there will be adequate infrastructure, taking into consideration the rising demand for residential real estate led by families, businesses, and individuals looking for affordable housing. If elected to City Council, I will work for the citizens of Hagerstown to bring prosperity that is balanced and equitable. |

Small businesses are the heart and soul of a vibrant downtown. Downtown tourism supports local businesses, creates jobs, and generates tax revenues to support infrastructure, public services, and the overall standard of living.
City and County officials can promote the influx of new businesses in downtown Hagerstown by simplifying the obstacles involved with altering existing structures and upgrading buildings to contemporary standards. Local politicians can stimulate revitalization by promoting inclusionary zoning practices. Local advocates should pursue policies that encourage investment while fostering the ability of all residents to realize the benefits of our progress.
